According to the Department of Education and Science, lifelong learning is defined as the ongoing, voluntary and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. This is especially important as your mind ages to avoid the risk of cognitive decline and possible impairment.
It is important to practice various ways to challenge your mind and keep it active on a daily basis. From knitting, playing bridge with your friends or taking a golfing trip, all of these activities can be beneficial. Finding outlets for an active lifestyle is easy at Lake Park with our culturally, socially and academically rich options. We have monthly activities with scheduled transportation, a large, well-stocked library, a computer center and an art studio.
Lake Park also partners with OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute), an organization committed to intellectual stimulation and continued learning experiences within a group of like-minded people. Through our partnership we offer year-round lectures on topics from comedy to the history of Oakland.
